16 MILE BEACH

16 MILE BEACH Surf Spot Guide, South Africa Nestled on South Africa's stunning West Coast, 16 Mile Beach delivers classic beach-break fun with reliable left-handers peeling across a sandy bottom dotted with occasional rocks. This uncrowded gem offers a laid-back vibe perfect for sessions where you can score wave after wave without the hustle. Surfers […]

Yzerfontein

Good option if you want to get away from Cape Town for a couple of hours. The break is sometimes referred to as Schaap Eiland. It's a crunchy wedge-shaped wave that breaks over a flat slab of rock, then links with sand bars on the beach. More often than not, a freight train close-out is the result, but occasionally this wave is insanely hollow, and could host a Cape Town tourist bus inside it. Needs glassy or berg wind conditions.

Reserve Beach

Really good spot when the conditions are right. Part of the west coast reserve, come in here with your boards hidden. Loads of different peaks, There is another more exposed beach further south from it also gets good in summer. This place is best in small to moderate swell. 2-5 foot.

Grotto Bay

Good beachbreak with solid hollow shorey style waves on a good groundswell. Winter is very good. Short ride but hollow.

Dassen Island Rights

Passed this spot twice by boat on work and couldnt believe it when i saw it. I doubt whether anyones surfed it just cause of how difficult it is to get to and lank sharky. Its a long heavy righthand reefbreak with alot of kelp, penguins, seals and booming with all sorts of life there. Next time im gonna try catch a few by boat but wouldnt advise anyone to stay out for too long.
